Daylight Film Development for Large Format Photographers – 900% Funded on Kickstarter

Just two weeks into our Kickstarter campaign for the Zebra Daylight Processing Tank, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve surpassed 900% funding, with more than 400 backers supporting this project from around the world.
This overwhelming response confirms what we’ve seen growing for years: the analog photography community is alive, thriving, and eager for tools that remove unnecessary barriers while keeping the hands-on, tactile process we all love. We’re deeply grateful for every pledge, message, and word of encouragement. You’re not just backing a product you’re helping shape the future of analog photography.
No Darkroom? No Problem.
The idea behind the Zebra Daylight Processing Tank is simple: what if the only time you needed total darkness was for loading your film or plates and the entire development process could then happen in broad daylight, cleanly and confidently?
This tank makes that idea a reality. Whether you’re developing large format film, dry plates, or paper negatives, it allows you to process with complete control no darkroom, no trays, and no mess.
The tank is fully light-tight, leak-proof, and made from chemical-resistant plastic. Inside the lid is a hidden light maze system that enables incredibly fast filling and emptying from either of the two caps, without exposing your material. Everything is engineered for reliability and ease of use.
For added confidence, we’ve included a soft elastic safety band that wraps over the lid during processing. While it’s not necessary to maintain a seal the design is already light- and leak-tight it gives that extra peace of mind, especially for those used to systems that rely on locking hardware.
One Tank, Many Formats!
The Zebra Daylight Tank is available in three sizes 4×5, 5×7, and 8×10 and each model supports modular format holders. That means you’re not limited to just one film or plate size. With the right adapter, you can develop everything from quarter plate and 9×12 cm, to 13×18, whole plate, and 18×24 cm.
- The 4×5 tank can process 6 sheets of film or 3 glass plates in one go.
- The 5×7 and 8×10 tanks can process 4 sheets of film or 2 plates at once.
- The 8×10 tank really stands out it transforms into a true workhorse when paired with our format adapters, allowing you to process up to 16 sheets of 4×5 or 8 sheets of 5×7,
It’s compact, efficient, and built for high-volume photographers who want to maximize their time and chemistry.
Opt for Zebra Daylight Kits
Alongside the tanks, we’ve also launched the Zebra Daylight Kits a complete development solution designed for photographers on the move.
Each kit includes a Zebra Daylight Processing Tank, a film changing bag, and our new Zebra Film Safe a rugged, light-tight storage box for safely organizing exposed and unexposed sheets in the field. The Film Safe has two magnetically secured compartments with textured lids, so you can quickly tell them apart by feel, even in the dark.
It’s the perfect tool for keeping your workflow organized and stress-free, whether you’re in the studio or out in the wild. You can learn more about it in our Kickstarter Project!
There is still Time to Join
With just under two weeks left, the campaign runs until July 1, 2025. We’ll use the remaining time to gather your feedback and refine the final production version of the tanks. Shipping is planned to begin this year, and we’re fully committed to delivering the tanks in best possible form!
If you haven’t joined yet, there’s still time to grab one of the tanks or kits at special campaign pricing. Your support not only helps fund production it brings us closer to a world where analog photography is easier, cleaner, and more accessible for everyone.

Thank You
To everyone who has backed, shared, or supported the Zebra Daylight Processing Tank thank you. Your belief in this project is what makes it possible. Together, we’re building something more than a product. We’re creating tools that let the analog process breathe anytime, anywhere.
Let’s keep it going.
