Having a special piece of equipment for each type of photographic material is very inconvenient end expensive. This is why I have decided to make Zebra 8×10 Dual Plate Holders as versatile as possible. They where primarily designed to hold up to 2mm thick plates but my quest is to try and constantly improve their design and add new features. So let me present to you a Zebra 8×10 Tintype Adapter that barely adds up any weight and it is very simple to use. When you would like to shoot some Zebra Dry Plate Tintypes you simply take the adapter slide it in the holder to lift the focal plane, insert the Tintype Plate and voila now you have a Zebra 8×10 Tintype Holder.

Sturdy construction, well worth the price.

Okay, to ensure this feedback isn't solely criticism, let's first highlight the positive aspects of the product.
Pros:
The product is quite affordable.
The product is lightweight.
The product essentially serves its purpose, which is to lift the plate to the correct height. However, more on this later.
Cons:
Since I have the V1 Dual Plate Holder, using this product will cause issues when trying to insert the plate into the plate holder. It will scratch the edges of the plate, causing the collodion to peel off from the edges. I can't say how much this will happen as I haven't tried it yet. But it will happen, as the plate will come into contact with the adapter.
Then the absolutely worst thing: it’s practically impossible to remove the plate from the plate holder because it’s so tight, and the adapter itself gets stuck under the plate. Well, by shaking it, you can get the plate to move down just enough so that there's room at the top for a fingernail to fit. Not very ideal. Because your finger or nail can easily touch the emulsion itself, ruining the image. Once again, this proves the old saying: you can’t get something good cheaply. If you want something good and cheap, you’ll have to buy two: the good one and the cheap one.
So, at some point, I’ll have to get a proper wet plate holder. It works well; I’ve seen one live and tried it myself.
