ADOX HC-110 Professional – The Original Syrup Returns
Thick, juicy, honey-yellow – and virtually everlasting – the legendary “Original Syrup” is back, now under the ADOX HC-110 Professional name. This German-made version faithfully replicates the classical Kodak HC-110 formula, known for its reliability, contrast control, and extreme shelf life.
Due to its dense, syrupy consistency, manufacturing this developer involves a more complex process, requiring additional pumping and filtering steps. As a result, ADOX HC-110 Professional is priced higher than thinner variants on the market. However, it boasts an almost infinite shelf life – a worthy trade-off for professionals and long-term users.
True to the original Kodak recipe, ADOX HC-110 Professional allows for contrast control through variable dilutions, as detailed in Bruce Barnbaum’s The Art of Photography (Chapter 9, pp. 166–170). This flexibility makes it an excellent match for high-resolution emulsions such as Zebra Dry Plates, offering sharp, consistent results across a variety of use cases.
