Daylight Film Development Without a Darkroom
The Zebra Daylight Developing Tank is a modular daylight film processing system designed to simplify large format workflows and remove the need for a traditional darkroom.
Following our 1100% funded Kickstarter campaign (view campaign) and refined through feedback from hundreds of photographers, the system is now fully production-ready and available for pre-order ahead of its official store release.
After loading your film or plates in darkness, the entire development process from developer to fixer can be completed in daylight, giving you the freedom to process sheet film anywhere.
One System, Multiple Formats
The Zebra system is built around flexibility.
With a wide range of modular adapters, each tank can support multiple formats beyond its base size, allowing you to work across:
- Sheet film (4×5, 5×7, 8×10)
- Glass dry plates
- Paper negatives
Depending on the tank size, you can also process formats such as:
- Quarter plate, sixth plate, 9×12 cm
- Half plate, 13×18 cm, 10×15 cm
- Whole plate, 18×24 cm and more
This makes it a true multi-format developing system, reducing the need for multiple tanks.
Efficient Multi-Sheet Processing
Each Zebra Daylight Developing Tank is designed to process multiple sheets at once, improving both efficiency and consistency.
Whether you are working in the field or in a studio, this allows you to:
- Develop multiple images in one cycle
- Maintain consistent results across all sheets
- Optimize your chemistry usage
The system is designed for fast filling, easy agitation, and clean handling, ensuring a smooth and repeatable workflow.
Clean and Consistent Results
The internal insert system has been refined to ensure:
- Even chemical distribution
- Reduced turbulence during agitation
- Stable positioning of film and plates
This results in:
- Cleaner negatives
- Fewer development artifacts
- Reliable and repeatable outcomes
The tank is suitable for processing:
- Sheet film
- Glass plates
- Paper negatives
Light-Tight, Leak-Proof, Field-Ready
Built for real-world use, the Zebra tank provides:
- Fully light-tight construction
- Leak-proof sealing system
- Integrated light maze for safe daylight pouring
- Durable, chemical-resistant materials
Once sealed, the tank can be safely used in daylight, making it ideal for:
- Field photography
- Workshops
- Home darkrooms
Designed for Freedom and Flexibility
The Zebra Daylight Developing Tank removes one of the biggest limitations in analog photography—the need for a fixed darkroom setup.
Whether you’re developing at home, teaching a workshop, or working on location, it gives you complete control over your process in a compact and portable system.
Production & Availability
All tanks are produced in carefully controlled batches to ensure consistent quality.
Orders placed now are part of the upcoming June 2026 production batch, shipping before the tanks become regularly available in the store.
