Zone Imaging Eco Zonefix Plus is a modern rapid fixer designed for photographers who want exceptional fixing performance while reducing the environmental impact of their darkroom chemistry. Suitable for both black and white film and photographic papers, it combines fast fixing times, excellent archival washing characteristics, and outstanding working capacity in one easy-to-use liquid concentrate.
Based on ammonium thiosulphate, Eco Zonefix Plus delivers rapid, reliable fixing while remaining completely non-hardening. This makes it particularly well suited to photographers who use toning, bleaching, or alternative printing techniques, where hardened emulsions can make subsequent processing more difficult.
Its carefully balanced neutral pH formulation provides several important advantages. Film becomes more resistant to over-fixing, washing times are reduced, and there is no requirement for an acid stop bath—simply using a water stop is sufficient. In most workflows, no hypo clearing agent is required, further simplifying the darkroom process.
Unlike many traditional fixers, Eco Zonefix Plus contains no borate derivatives, phosphates, EDTA, DTPA, acetic acid, or known carcinogenic or mutagenic ingredients. Combined with its virtually odourless formulation, it creates a cleaner, safer, and far more pleasant working environment, making it an excellent choice for home darkrooms, schools, universities, and community darkrooms.
The highly concentrated liquid formula offers exceptional economy, providing approximately 67% greater capacity than comparable powder fixers while maintaining excellent shelf life, even after opening. It is compatible with tap water hardness up to 300 ppm, can be replenished for high-volume processing, and performs reliably between 18°C and 40°C.
